Professional statement

Dr. Diana Ali is a licensed psychologist in Ventura, California with an expertise in helping clients mindfully navigate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress. She has also worked extensively with individuals experiencing varying degrees of trauma. She welcomes clients who identify as "highly sensitive" people, adult children of emotionally immature parents, and individuals with symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD).

Many of Dr. Ali's clients seek support when experiencing professional burnout or chronic emotional dysregulation; others are grappling with persistent anger, sadness, anxiety, or mood swings. Others have gone through or are currently facing a chronic illness, and are adapting to the significant life changes it entails.

Dr. Ali is passionate about helping her clients with trauma recovery. She is a specialist in several cutting edge trauma focused therapies including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Complex PTSD (DBT-PTSD). For clients who have difficulties with managing overwhelming emotions, Dr. Ali utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), a highly effective, skills-based approach to treatment that incorporates mindfulness and emotion regulation skills. This treatment helps clients learn to cope with difficult situations and build emotional resilience. Dr. Ali also specializes in working with individuals who suffer from OCD utilizing Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), a highly effective treatment for OCD recovery. Dr. Ali is skilled at helping her clients examine and question self-limiting patterns of thoughts and behaviors, and change greater patterns that are standing in the way of their goals and desires.

Dr. Ali's practice is located in Ventura, CA and she also offers remote sessions for clients throughout the state of California and the state of Colorado. She looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

If you are suffering from PTSD, borderline personality disorder, OCD, a chronic illness, professional burnout, or other sources of overwhelming emotions, I believe there is hope for you.

If you've tried traditional talk therapy and felt like you didn't make much progress, you may benefit from a different approach. I offer trauma-specific treatments such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and Cognitive Processing Therapy and have had the privilege of witnessing the profound changes that can come when we are able to heal the wounds from our past. I also offer practical, skills-based approaches to therapy like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD (ERP), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy for emotional dysregulation (DBT). My approach to therapy is aimed at working with you to recover from past trauma, to build the life that you want, to move toward your values, and to change the behaviors that may be getting in the way of your goals. I am dedicated to providing compassionate and evidenced-based treatments that empower my clients to heal and to learn practical skills to improve their lives. I view therapy as a collaborative, team effort, between the client and therapist.

Together, we will work on reducing your suffering and building your life. I realize that it takes great courage to face our challenges and ask for help. I invite you to message me directly to schedule a free, 15-minute phone consultation.
