Dr. Douglas Sadownick is a Licensed Professional Psychologist in Los Angeles, CA. He also serves as a professor of clinical psychology at Antioch University, where he has spent the past 20 years training therapists to open their hearts and to engage with vitality and courage. In sessions, Dr. Sadownick works collaboratively to engage clients in a conversational and respectful way. He strives to consistently check-in during each session to see how the overall treatment is going, and what can be improved. Together, he works with clients to come up with collaborative goals that are designed to help individuals feel safer emotionally and to meet their needs.

Dr. Sadownick is respected in the therapist community for advances he has made in training therapists to work with the people of color and queer communities.

Message to clients

If you are looking for a therapist who will engage you throughout the session, and to make you feel seen, heard, and engaged, I can offer you all my emotional resources to help you feel safe and inspired. I am currently seeing people in person in my sunlight and peaceful office in mid-city but also available via teletherapy to address people’s need for contact, support and direction. I specialize in working with diverse populations to help address loneliness, concerns about finances, relationship distress and worries about survival. I feel it is important to use this challenging time to make meaning out of this societal change, to find out what’s being asked from each of us to grow.

I also work with people involved in the Hollywood Industry and have special expertise in working with the LGBTQ communities and those of Jewish origin.

My way of working is to help you feel safe and cared for. We can address your fears, worried and anxieties. Solutions can be discovered through dialogue. As we work to solve some pressing concerns, we can also address the search for greater meaning and deeper purpose that comes from facing a crisis. I will talk with you as a companion in your journey. I work with all people and specialize in working with LGBTQ clients, women and people of color and men struggling with other pressures.
