Professional statement

Gabi Taweel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in San Diego, California. She works with teens and adults and specializes in trauma, anxiety and mood dysregulation, and navigating life transitions. Her ideal client has the desire to discover the underlying reasons for distress and to take necessary steps to improve their quality of life. Gabi commits to offering an inclusive and nonjudgmental space for you to speak and feel openly.

Gabi's approach to therapy is trauma-informed and collaborative. She pulls from several evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as CBT and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, to individualize treatment based on each person's needs and goals. She prioritizes addressing the complex and often interrelated issues stemming from prior life experiences and their impact on current functioning. Gabi also implements mindfulness and somatic strategies into her work, as mind-body duality is an important step in the healing process.

Gabi serves clients in California, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia. She is available for virtual sessions, giving you the opportunity to attend therapy from the comfort of your own home.

Message to clients

Navigating through life as a human on this earth is a challenge. Often we seek stability among life's chaos, while other times we seek excitement among life's mundanity. I am here to help you identify your needs, desires, and roadblocks during both transitional and stagnant periods of your life. Whether dealing with the aftermath of trauma, struggling with mood imbalances, battling substances or other maladaptive coping mechanisms, or facing significant life changes, I am here to provide support, guidance, and the tools necessary for healing and transformation.

Therapy does not have to be a solemn or intimidating space. I bring my personality and a sprinkle of humor into sessions to help my clients feel comfortable, relaxed, and ready to open up. I firmly believe the therapeutic relationship provides the groundwork for healing and I prioritize building rapport and mutual trust.
