Professional statement

Jeff is a LCSW practicing in the Bay Area, CA. He specializes in working with those seeking to become their more authentic selves and /or developing a spiritual path of growth, which often involves healing from past traumas and other difficulties. Jeff has a special affinity for working with the LGBTQIA+ population, as well as those who have suffered from trauma, anxiety, and self esteem issues. Jeff is also trained in Buddhist Based Psychology and Tibetan Buddhist healing practices and often incorporates these systems of ancient wisdom into his work. He is also available for psychedelic preparation and integration therapy.

Jeff's primary approach is to help client get to the roots of their emotional patterns and difficulties, combining powerful tools like Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EDMR. These can facilitate a deep exploration of the subconscious mind, where clients can understand themselves on the deepest levels, releasing unprocessed emotional burdens from the past. In addition, he uses a holistic process that involves mind, body and spirit and draws from an eclectic variety of modalities and traditions. More specifically, this includes an array of meditative practices and skills that incorporate self compassion.

Jeff is a certified EMDR Consultant and has gone through Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 1 training. Other modalities he is trained in include ACT, DBT, Mindfulness Based CBT. Jeff is a trained teacher of the Mindful Self Compassion Program and also completed a two year Mindfulness Teacher Training. In addition, he is currently enrolled in the Sowa Rigpa Counselor Program, a 2 year training in Tibetan Buddhist approaches to psychotherapy.

Jeff's home office is located on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. He is available for both in person and telehealth.

Message to clients

My practice is primarily about facilitating way for you get to the heart of the matter in therapy. With a more focused and direct approach, I can help you narrow down your areas of interest or concern, to hone in on what's most important to you, whether that be healing from past traumas or developing your present path of personal or spiritual growth. If you are someone who struggles with ongoing patterns of emotions, moods or behaviors and aren't sure why or what to do about with, this type of therapy can help you finally understand where these come from and how you can have a better relationship with yourself.

I customize my approach and the tools I am offering according to your individual needs, working with you collaboratively to help you realize your goals for therapy. This can include just about anything you want to work on, from mental health to relationships, to journeying into the recesses of your unconscious and beyond. My greatest joy is in seeing clients develop a more loving, compassionate relationship with themselves that comes from understanding yourself on a deeper level.
