Professional statement

I believe that everyone needs an objective resource in their life. Someone who can take a look at their current life circumstances, or even childhood experiences in order to determine what trajectory they are on. Therapy is a collaborative effort and the therapist and client tackle the difficult situations that the client has faced, and together form a new path. There is no hierarchy in therapy, I prefer to be called Jennifer rather than Dr. or Ms. Guinta. We are all on an even playing field. I am just here to show you alternate perspectives regarding your problem. I am reality based, I do not just "yes you", I challenge you.

I consider my specialty to be working with individuals with prior or current substance abuse diagnoses. This is a specialty that I invest a lot of time in because I do not have knowledge from text books, I have real life experience. I have been in recovery in excess of 15 years. I fully understand where these individuals have been and where they can go!

I do not believe that a therapist should only be available to their client during the specific times of their sessions. I give my clients my email address & phone number so that they know in the event of a crisis, that I am a source of support. In all of my experience this has been my outlook and not only a handful have had to use my number for crisis.

Message to clients

I look forward to getting to know you! Whether you believe what you are going through is positively or negatively affecting your life, I am here for you to work through them. I use reality therapy because I feel that individuals need to hear the truth. Unfortunately, sometimes that may hurt, but if certain behaviors or attitudes aren't brought to someone's attention, there is no way to change it.

If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.

Remember, it's not where you were that counts, but where you are going!
