Message to clients

I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I work with adults and older teens on a range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and stress. People who call me are often feeling overwhelmed or distressed. Many are curious about how therapy could help them. I have extensive experience with a number of different approaches to help you feel better.
I have been seeing clients for many years. I have developed expertise in treating anxiety, depression, and addressing relationship difficulties, parenting, and life stress. I draw from a variety of approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and interpersonal therapy (IPT), which focuses on relationships.
Some people are looking to learn skills and coping techniques. Some are looking to understand familiar patterns that are getting in their way. I want therapy to be helpful and targeted to your needs. I can address the here and now--what is on your plate today? What is coming up for you this week? We can focus on these issues to help you manage and feel supported. I also work with people on issues that have been present for some time. We can work to better understand these patterns so that they no longer interfere with things you want in life.
After we have an initial phone conversation, we will meet so that you can tell me about yourself. During our first meeting, I will listen closely to your story--attending to both your difficulties and your strengths and capacities. We will likely meet another time and then together, we will make a plan that best addresses your needs. It is important to me that I offer an environment that feels supportive, safe, and helpful.
