Professional statement

Josh Grashin is a Licensed Professional Counselor who focuses on relationship issues, career counseling, anxiety and men’s issues. He has a particular interest in helping emerging adults in their 20’s who are motivated to carve out their niche in the world. Due to Josh’s real world experiences, he is particularly adept at empathizing with people going through life changes or individuals who may be struggling and can’t quite figure out why.

Josh likes to take different approaches depending on the individual who comes in - he recognizes that no two people are alike, and some may people may seek an intellectual, existential approach while others may need a more directive approach. To that end, no two clients will receive the same treatment, and Josh utilizes a mix of person-centered, cognitive behavioral, existential and sometimes solution-oriented counseling. Josh also has a unique understanding of the barriers people face in seeking help and strives to create a welcoming, non-judgmental space to process one’s experiences.

Josh left a successful marketing career to follow his passion and become a therapist and he brings that life experience into each and every session. As a result, Josh understands the challenges of jobs in corporate America and can bring that perspective in session. Josh also has a unique understanding of the barriers people face in seeking help and strives to create a welcoming, non-judgmental space to process one’s experiences.

Josh’s first priority is ensuring that clients, no matter their presenting concern, feels welcome and supported. Josh has worked hard to create a safe and inviting office space though also offers video conferencing for those who are not able to make it to the physical space.

Message to clients

Do you ever feel that life can just be, well, a lot? Sometimes just getting through the day to day can feel overwhelming. I think that counseling can offer help to better recognize the habits we find ourselves forming, both good and bad, and help us determine what changes might be needed.

Like anything in life, therapy is not one size fits all. If you are looking for someone who brings humor and his own life experiences and the perspective that that offers, I may be a good fit for you. My belief is that counseling is a great way to learn how to strengthen relationships in one’s own life and I tailor my therapy to that goal, depending on a person’s individual needs. I think that counseling is only worthwhile if you feel understood by your counselor, and I pledge to always help those who do not feel that connection find someone who they do click with.
