Professional statement

Juan Carlos Camps is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Miami Beach, FL. Juan Carlos is passionate about providing members of the Miami community the emotional support they need to thrive. Many of Juan Carlos’ clients struggle with low self-esteem, depression, feelings of disconnection from others, or overwhelming disappointment. Juan Carlos helps these clients to feel confident in themselves and their strengths, while giving them a safe space to process through their feelings.

In sessions with clients, Juan Carlos adjusts his approach depending on the client’s goals, personality, and situation. He provides coaching services to help clients reach their goals, including coming up with the next steps to take to reach those goals. This is especially helpful for clients who have goals for their physical or professional performance. Juan Carlos also introduces mind-body techniques for clients to help them grow their overall awareness. This holistic approach includes mindfulness practices like meditation, deep breathing, or light exercise.

Juan Carlos earned his Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida International University. He is welcoming to clients of all backgrounds and identities and specializes in supporting the LGBTQ population. He has over twenty years of experience working in mental health in the Miami community.

Message to clients

I am a Cuban-American born and raised in Miami, FL.

I have a great deal of passion for my community and the well-being of its citizens.

I am a licensed clinical counselor, practicing for over 10 years, with 20 years of experience in care coordination for insurance companies, human growth and development, and have worked in various social service organizations throughout Miami-Dade.

Over the course of my career, I have seen how the debilitating effects of anxiety and depression can impact an individual’s life, and cause disruption and discord in their everyday interactions with family, loved ones, colleagues at work/school/peer groups and within their communities.

Also, as part of the gay community, I understand the importance of having access to someone who identifies and understands the process of coming out and the individual needs one may experience in becoming their genuine and authentic self.

I consider myself a resource, an advocate, caregiver and ally in the journey of becoming well and I am passionate about helping individuals achieve their goals and abilities to be their authentic self.

Are you ready? Contact me to get started on meeting your personal life goals - a life that would be filled with mental health, peace and vibrancy.
