Julie Panton is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Providence, RI who specializes in working with children and their families in the following areas: ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, behavioral challenges and emotional difficulties, anger management, and relationship and social challenges. Julie takes a collaborative approach that is goal oriented and focused on solutions. She frequently utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help her clients change their thought and behavioral patterns and develop healthier coping skills. She believes her clients know themselves best and lets them take the lead in sessions. When working with young clients, Julie will utilize play therapy to help them express their feelings.

She is there to help them learn how to express their emotions in a healthy way and overcome the challenges life throws their way. Outside of private practice, she works at a behavioral school. Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Children and adolescents - Specialized strategies for common childhood and adolescence disorders including attention issues, attachment problems, behavioral disorders, learning disorders, etc.
Anger management - Addressing sudden outbursts of anger or sustained resentment; developing healthy anger expression and outlets
Behavioral difficulties - Adjusting to school; managing developmental and emotional challenges inside and outside of school; balancing schoolwork and personal life
Relationships/social problems - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
