Professional statement

Katrina Shepard is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, and is the Executive Director of Shepard Therapy Associates. A graduate of Simmons University, she engaged in clinical training at VA Boston Healthcare System, and has extensive experience with folks from diverse backgrounds. She is passionate about serving the LGBTQ community, military veterans, first responders, new parents, and those struggling with substance use.

Katrina has extensive experience with patients struggling with trauma and SUD, as well as providing consultation for medical staff in an integrated primary care setting. With a style that is collaborative, gentle, and direct, she utilizes evidence-based treatments supported by scientific research, including EMDR. Whether working with individuals or couples, she will often use a combination of treatment approaches that may include CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness practices. With a background rooted in social justice, she welcomes a wide range of creative professionals, executives, parents, and young adults to her practice.

Message to clients

It's so helpful to have a space where you can be yourself for an hour each week, and know that you are receiving gold standard treatment options. Shepard Therapy Associates is unique in that we are a boutique practice, providing highly personalized/individually tailored services to a small number of clients. Our therapists have extensive training and certifications that can be challenging to find among many therapists in the community. This includes CPT, EMDR, CBT-I for insomnia, and the Gottman Method. We engage in regular professional development and training to keep us on the forefront of innovations in the field, and offer in-service trainings and information sessions for first responders in the community.

When you receive care at Shepard Therapy Associates, you can rest assured that you are in the best hands, and feel confident in seeing changes in yourself over time. However, we are passionate about ensuring that you reach your personal goals within a reasonable time frame, so that you do not feel as if you're "wasting" time or money, remaining in therapy longer than necessary.
