Kelsey Kickbush is a licensed clinical social worker with a virtual practice in Rhode Island, California, and Indiana, where she welcomes individuals aged 13 years and older, families, and couples/partners, including those in polyamorous/CNM relationships. Many of her clients identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or belong to historically marginalized communities, so Kelsey is sensitive to issues of oppression, power and privilege. Kelsey enjoys working with clients who are helping professionals, military/veterans, and survivors of complex trauma. Kelsey acts as a guide on her clients’ healing journeys and strives to hold space from a place of compassion, curiosity, and calm.
Kelsey’s therapeutic approach is rooted in attachment theories, Polyvagal Theory, and mindfulness. She primarily uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), both evidence-based treatments for trauma that draw on her clients’ innate ability to heal themselves. Kelsey uses a strengths-based and systemic lens, and offers her understanding of how your body responds to trauma to help empower her clients to find healing. Kelsey is also a registered yoga teacher with extensive training in trauma-informed yoga, a background that she draws from when appropriate and desired by the client.
Kelsey is committed to creating a compassionate and nonjudgmental practice so that she can create a collaborative and trusting relationship with her clients. She strives to consistently engage in her own self-inquiry and continued learning so that she can confidently show up for those who choose to work with her. She offers the flexibility of virtual therapy sessions, and is currently accepting new clients.
