Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHC Creative Arts TherapistLaura Matthews is a LMHC Art Therapist in Seattle. They work with young adults, adults and seniors. Many of Laura’s clients come in when they are faced with difficult life transitions, burnout, trauma, depression, anxiety or other mood disorders. Laura is particularly passionate about serving adults and adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as those in acute crisis. They also have advanced training in the area of Art Therapy, Chemical Dependence, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
Laura is trained in evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT and ACT, which assists clients learn different skills for emotional regulation as well as help build skills for cultivating a meaningful life. In session, Laura focuses on your strengths and areas of growth to reach your goals. This approach supports clients to establish and maintain and better quality of life.
Laura’s style is client driven, fluid, and structured when necessary. When a client first comes in, I enjoy getting a holistic perspective on your lived experience and goals to build a tailored and individualized treatment plan to meet your needs. Laura is dedicated to providing a relationship that is therapeutic, progressive, and supportive of the clients perspectives and values.
Laura received their MA at Antioch University Seattle with a specialization in Art Therapy. They gained experience in community mental health as well as Pathlight Mood and Anxiety Center which enables them to work strategically to maximize client growth in sessions. Outside of private practice, they enjoy creating their own art and spending time with their cat, Franny.
