Professional statement

Margaret Reynolds is a Counselor in Chicago. She works with professional adults, mostly women. Many of Maggie’s clients come in to address trauma, relationship issues, career issues, grief, and anxiety. Maggie is particularly passionate about serving individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community, professionals in the helping and creative fields, caregivers, and older adults.

Maggie is certified in Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and incorporates Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, and Existential-Humanistic theories/philosophies to help clients understand how their experiences have impacted and shaped their beliefs and behaviors and open up possibilities for new insight and meaningful change. In session, Maggie focuses on tapping into a client's strengths and resources so that they feel prepared and capable of healing and thriving. This approach supports clients to be able to unburden themselves from the past so they can focus on life now and in the future.

Maggie's style is non-judgmental, empowering, and compassionately inquisitive. When clients first start therapy, she will make sure they feel safe, seen, and heard and can show up fully as themselves.

Maggie received their MA from University of San Diego. She has worked with homeless veterans in San Diego and with severely mentally ill and underserved clients in community mental health in Las Vegas. Outside of private practice, She enjoys exploring and walking in her neighborhood and other neighborhoods with traditional and historic architecture and spending time with her partner, stepdaughter, and 3 cats, Babbitt, Stello, and Lucille. Maggie offers teletherapy in Illinois, and Walk & Talk and Concierge Therapy in Chicago and the NW suburbs

Message to clients

Thank you for checking out my profile. More importantly, thank you for taking steps towards getting help with your struggles. I am a big believer in the transformative power of therapy to help people survive and grow from what they've been through. One of the default assumptions I make when I meet a new client is that they have inner strengths and resources, whether or not they realize that themselves. If you've made it through the searching, phone calls, emails, and scheduling that goes into starting with a new counselor, and you still show up ready to be vulnerable and seek help, then you've already demonstrated some of the qualities I look for and try to affirm and encourage in you...persistence, humility, curiosity, responsibility, and hope.

Whether or not you choose to work with me, I want to honor what you are doing for yourself in working with a counselor. I often like to imagine a world where we all have easy and affordable access to therapy and can become healthier and happier in our lives. I believe that this would lead to less suffering in general, better relationships, more productive and meaningful work, and stronger family and community ties. In essence, what you do to help yourself heal and grow is one way that you can be part of the solution of healing the ills and woes of humanity.

That being said, even if you are the only one to benefit from therapy, you are worth it!
