Professional statement

Dr. Mariana Carabantes is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in the State of Florida since 2011. Her office is conveniently located in Coral Gables, right in the center of Miami. Additionally, she offers the option of teletherapy, for those individuals who live far from her office, are located elsewhere in Florida, or simply prefer to avoid the commute.

Dr. Carabantes was born in Argentina, and at a young age moved to Spain. She arrived in Miami in 1993, and received her psychological training from Nova Southeastern University, graduating in 2009. Living in three different countries and navigating the nuances of different cultures has been invaluable to understand and embrace the multicultural population of Florida.

Dr. Carabantes specializes in supporting her clients through difficult life transitions. Life events such as illness, accidents, divorce, empty nest, menopause, retirement, just to name a few, may be overwhelming, stressful, and be the source of depressive and anxiety symptoms.

Dr. Carabantes is constantly exploring new developments in therapeutic techniques, and has received training in hypnosis, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), grief counseling, and trauma informed therapy. To expand her knowledge of how nutrition affects mental health, she additionally obtained training as a health coach. But furthermore than techniques, Dr. Carabantes believes that one of the most important factors in a successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship between client and psychologist, therefore her main objective is to provide a safe and respectful environment, where the client can achieve their goals at their own pace.

Message to clients

There are moments in life when things feel overwhelming, and you might not even know why. Other times it might be clearer what is causing your distress. Either way, you may be waiting for things to get better, but the longer you wait, the more difficult it gets. The good news is that things can get better; I assure you they can.

If you are here it's because you have already taken the most difficult step; deciding to seek help. Fortunately, asking for help gets easier with practice. The way in which we cope with difficulties is greatly influenced by how we see the world. Asking for help, and obtaining a different perspective is often the first and most significant step toward developing the skills needed to become stronger. The more support you gain, the better equipped you will be to take on bigger challenges and achieve your goals.

It is my priority to create a safe atmosphere that promotes growth and positive change. I look forward to working with you to address your challenges and realize your goals. Therapy is a process that can move you toward being the healthiest version of yourself and living the life you desire.
