Professional statement

Mary Elizabeth Vaughan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida. Mary Elizabeth has been a counselor for 35 years and works with both male and female adults. She is particularly sensitive to those clients who are facing break ups and divorce. In addition to those populations Mary Elizabeth works very well with individuals who have experienced Trauma ,abuse issues, depression, stress, anxiety and self-doubt.

Mary Elizabeth urges clients to work with her using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This technique helps clients to examine their thoughts, feelings and behaviors so they can begin to make changes in their thinking and responses to external stimuli. This introduces a sense of control and peace they have been searching for.

Because Mary Elizabeth has been in the Mental Health business for a while, she interjects common sense with her clients. Clients have said this helps them to feel a sense of calm and belonging.

Message to clients

I think of therapy as a journey . Your journey is a safe place where you and I will go together to form a goal of peace and tranquility .

Though the goal is one of peace, you will find areas in your personality where you may have intense negative feelings . In therapy you will learn how to manage those intense feelings and they will not control you. You will find that you have permission to feel as you want without the guilt that you may have felt in the past.

In therapy you will learn about yourself and who you are. Learning who you are is a gift you give to yourself because you get to put things in perspective.

I help clients achieve the above by working with them, listening to them, accepting them and offering creative ideas and exercises on how they can accept themselves. I work with them and help them develop skills to manage their lives and relationships peacefully.

My practice is working with clients who have experienced TRAUMA (abusive relatioships) depression , anxiety , work place anxiety ,

divorce, family issues, bipolar, and change of life issues.

My approach to therapy is the use of CBT and since I have been in the mental health business for 35+ years I use just plain common sense.
