Professional statement

Meghann Ellis is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Hingham, Massachusetts specializing in trauma, mindfulness, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. With specialty certification in the treatment of trauma and training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she has a particular expertise in helping clients recover from complex and multi-generational trauma. In her trauma-informed practice, she works with clients to explore their symptoms, identify triggers, build coping skills, and release deep-seated emotional pains at a comfortable pace.

Meghann also enjoys supporting clients with eating disorders, including bulimia, anorexia, and binge eating. With these clients, she draws upon elements of internal family systems (IFS) and ego state therapy to better understand parts of self and feel more connected to one's inner experiences.

Meghann’s approach is hands-on, curious, and interactive. She prioritizes developing a strong therapeutic relationship with clients to understand the root of difficult patterns and create meaningful change.

Message to clients

Therapy is a place to learn about yourself and heal, without judgement or shame! I work to create a safe and friendly environment for you to understand the core root of your behavior to create change. My warm and interactive approach helps clients feel comfortable to reach new depths of understanding about themselves!

Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse

Mindfulness - Using techniques like breathing and meditation to increase self-awareness and manage day-to-day stress

Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)

Depression - Providing support and promoting healing through hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life

Dissociation - Our bodies' powerful way of of protecting us from trauma and fear can wreak havoc on our daily lives as we try to be present and focus on relationships and work; my work incorporates practices of ego state therapy and structural dissociation, where we learn the adaptive qualities of dissociation but also work to help our bodies understand where the past ends and the future begins
