Professional statement

A therapist by degree and experience, but a coach at heart and practice. With her unique blend of candor and quirky sense of humor, Melissa's clients find themselves stepping out of perfectionistic prisons and into the life they have always dreamed of.

You may be able to relate to the struggle with perfectionism, burnout and stress, imposter syndrome, and overall exhaustion living in the merry-go-round of your life. You want to show up and just be perfectly imperfect. The fear of being truly known is overwhelming and keeps you stuck exactly where you do not want to be. You are living in their own shadow of perfectionism while fearing you will be found out as an imposter or fraud, all the while trying to avoid the looming burnout. Melissa's ideal client is aware intellectually of the pattern but feels emotionally stuck. An individual that is self-aware enough that despite the symptoms, behaviors, and challenges, they WANT to change to be able to find peace. They just do not know where to start.

We are all imposters in one way, but do not need to feel like a fraud to the point it is consuming. Melissa is passionate about partnering with clients exactly like you. Through a unique blend of grounded clinical skills, creative interventions and fun analogies, together you will find the strength, courage and passion for life that you have felt is lost.

Life is meant to be lived with fierce curiosity and a sense of adventure. Melissa's mission is to inspire fierce curiosity, discover the amazing individual you are at the core so that you can live your life being the perfectly imperfect being that you are.

Message to clients

It has been a few interesting years - surreal is my word. I know you find yourself overwhelmed and burned out from all your responsibilities. The truth is, you know it’s important to practice good self-care. However, I know your drive to be perfect has taken center stage. You feel stressed and overwhelmed by having to take care of others which means you often forget to take care of yourself. Anxiety and Depression have become a daily pattern for you.

I see you as an authentically imperfect human, self-driven, and committed. Perhaps, you’re struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel and you don’t see yourself the way I do. That’s okay. I can help you.

My style is not textbook (even though they let me teach graduate students!) and I promise never to ask you "and how does that make you feel?". We will laugh together, tackle painful issues together and celebrate your wins together. Bottom line, I am committed to empowering you to achieve the goals that you set for yourself so that you thrive in your life instead of just survive. We are in this together and together we will get you where you want to be.
