Therapy with Melissa centers around a sense of curiosity. Clients learn how to engage with introspection and reflection to better understand their emotions and the origins of these emotions. By offering a gentle, compassionate space, Melissa provides clients with the tools they need to cope with the distress in their lives. She has a background in theatre, so she enjoys being creative in her approaches and encourages clients to express themselves in whatever way helps them most.

Melissa earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University and has a certificate as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher as well as a certificate in Couples and Family Therapy from The Ackerman Institute for the Family. Melissa is trained in a variety of different evidenced based approaches such as DBT, CBT, and MBSR, among others. She believes that unconditional positive regard and support helps clients internalize their own strength and power, and she endeavors to make sure that all clients feel seen and heard during their sessions.
