Melissa Tract is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in in NY. Currently, she is able to see clients both in person and via tele-health. She works with kids, teens, and young adults. Melissa helps with a variety of mental health challenges which may include issues like perfectionism, anxiety, depression, addictions, trauma, and impulse control, among others. Many of her clients find themselves needing help around feeling overwhelmed with their emotions, dealing with daily stressors, struggling with relationships, having a healthy relationship with food and their body, or navigating life transitions. Melissa also works with couples and families for those who would like to grow their relationships and overcome obstacles that stand in the way of feeling connected and compassionate with one another.

Therapy with Melissa centers around a sense of curiosity. Clients learn how to engage with introspection and reflection to better understand their emotions and the origins of these emotions. By offering a gentle, compassionate space, Melissa provides clients with the tools they need to cope with the distress in their lives. She has a background in theatre, so she enjoys being creative in her approaches and encourages clients to express themselves in whatever way helps them most.

Melissa earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University and has a certificate as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher as well as a certificate in Couples and Family Therapy from The Ackerman Institute for the Family. Melissa is trained in a variety of different evidenced based approaches such as DBT, CBT, and MBSR, among others. She believes that unconditional positive regard and support helps clients internalize their own strength and power, and she endeavors to make sure that all clients feel seen and heard during their sessions.

Therefore, I utilize and combine a variety of different treatment modalities depending on what I feel can best help you in that moment. I believe that my clients know themselves best and I am here to collaborate with you on helping you make the changes you are hoping to make.
