My philosophy of therapy and change is that change comes from within. As a therapist, I ask a great deal in asking an individual to change, as change is an incredibly difficult task for everyone. The journey of change requires both the client and myself to work collaboratively throughout this journey. It is for this reason that the rapport between the client and myself is critical. I aim to provide all my clients with the space to explore their underlying feelings, thoughts, and behaviors so that they can engage in change.
I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at William Paterson University in 1996, as well as earing my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology in May 2000 from New Jersey City University. I earned my licenses as a Licensed Professional Counselor and as a Licensed Clinical and Drug Counselor in 2003.
After earning my PhD in Psychology, where I specialize in both Psychological Evaluations, as well as Neuropsychology Evaluations. Through these evaluations, I am able to assess each person's mental health and educational status. Through mental health assessments, I am able to pinpoint where an individual may be struggling, such as anxiety, depression, and so on. Through educational assessments, I am able to assess where a person may be struggling academically, such as ADHD, Autism, Learning Disability, and so on.
While my approach to treatment is greatly influenced by psychoanalysis and reality therapy, I also employ aspects of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. I have experience working in a variety of settings including substance abuse programs, intensive in-home community services, juvenile detention centers, school-based programs, and outpatient counseling programs.
