Professional statement

Nicole Egan is therapist in San Jose with an office location in College Park (off The Alameda). She works with teens, young adults (18-24) and adults (24-40). Many of Nicole’s clients come in to address chronic anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, relationship issues and people pleasing. Nicole is particularly passionate about serving people in their 20s and 30s navigating new life changes and transitions while breaking old cycles and patterns. She also has advanced training in the area of anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders and trauma disorders.

Nicole is trained in using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), strengths-based therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and mindfulness practices. These modalities help look at experiences you've had in the past that might help us more deeply understand challenges you're having today and then work on healing and accepting those past experiences to strengthen your relationship with yourself and others now in the present. This approach supports clients to heal from past experiences, that have been otherwise running the show in the background, allowing you to show up authentically in the world, find presence and discover connection.

Nicole's style is supportive, accepting and approachable. When clients first start therapy, they will work to build a strong and comfortable relationship where they feel heard and connected before working deeply and collaboratively to get to the root of the

Nicole received their graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University. Before private practice, she has worked for 9+ years in community mental health organizations serving youth and families struggling for support in various systems including foster care, juvenile justice and schools. Outside of being a therapist, she enjoys spending time with family including her two kiddos, being outside among nature (camping, mountain biking, etc), practicing yoga and powerlifting.

Message to clients

It’s so helpful to find someone who you can trust and genuinely be yourself with, someone who you can share your insecurities and challenges with without feeling judged. If nothing else, I hope my clients leave feeling heard, seen, understood and safe.

I want you to find peace, healing and acceptance of yourself to show up best for yourself and others. In our work, I hope you can build on awareness of the experiences you’ve had in life that understandably so could make it hard and difficult to deal with navigating new life phases and relationships and that could potentially lead to negative self talk and anxiety. I want to help you shift your perspectives so that you can live with anxiety rather than anxiety living for you.

If you’re willing to do the work, to lay it all out, to get raw about what is affecting you, and to make a commitment to change, I’m here. People that work best with me are people who are motivated to make a commitment to living differently, thinking differently and acting differently. This work is hard and it’s vulnerable, there’s no way around that, but I’m here to guide and support you on what at times can feel like a tough road, that’s where the quick fixes stop and the real healing begins.

If anything in this resonates with you, I’d love to meet you and schedule a free consultation to see if I’m the right therapist for you.
