Professional statement

Dr. Peter Erickson is a Clinical Psychologist in Providence, RI who specializes in relationships, life transitions, depression, men’s issues, substance use issues, and anxiety. His practice is open to individual adults across the lifespan, including young adults and college students, as well as couples.

Dr. Erickson's approach to treatment combines the insight-oriented lens of psychoanalysis with the skills-based strategies of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). When working with couples, Dr. Erickson helps ease stressors and de-escalate any tensions that may accompany relationship transitions – such as marriage, moving in together, and raising a family. He frequently applies the Gottman method to increase mutual consideration and support in each couple's dynamic.

Dr. Erickson innately understands the importance of compassion, empathy, and warmth in the therapy room, and has maintained these principles throughout the course of his work in the field for 25 years. He looks forward to working with you.
