Professional statement

Rachel Magida is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza. She works with adults who have found themselves at a crossroads, facing change at work, home, or in their sense of self. Many of her clients are in their 20s and 30s, seeking independence from their family of origin, or considering starting a family of their own. Rachel works closely with each individual to strengthen their inner voice and build the confidence to successfully navigate a new stage of life.

Rachel uses an integrative approach, helping clients build the coping strategies to address anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges while exploring the underlying root causes. Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practice, Rachel also works with her clients to develop an individualized self-care plan that might include exercise, sleep hygiene, and looking at the role of substances in their lives.

Uniquely, Rachel uses hypnotherapy to help clients tap into their internal strengths and overcome issues including smoking cessation, phobias, sleep problems, and general anxiety. She also offers executive functioning skills training to help clients organize their lives and increase motivation. She empowers her clients to achieve their short- and long-term goals, and they often report an increased sense of self-worth and improved relationships.

With over fifteen years of experience, Rachel helps her clients regain control of their lives and feel confident in taking on new challenges and roles. Her Brooklyn office is located steps from the 2/3 train at Grand Army Plaza. She looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

For many people, the decision to seek therapy is made during a stressful time such as a breakup or life transition. Although painful at the moment, this difficult time can serve as a motivator, leading to lasting change and greater life satisfaction. I specialize in emerging adults, adolescents, and perinatal issues. I provide a safe, authentic, and non-judgmental space to help you work through stress and develop new coping strategies. In therapy we will explore your current and past relationships to promote insight and positive change. We will also focus on practical skills and cognitive/behavioral techniques to address symptoms. I also utilize hypnotherapy to deepen the treatment and achieve goals. My style is interactive and I give feedback (when wanted). My goal is to help you have a greater sense of agency in your life.
