Sarah Choffnes is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker & Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor with a private practice in the suburbs of Boston. Sarah enjoys working with adults in a state of mental, emotional, and/or existential transition with a specialty of working with college and graduate school aged emerging adults. She also provides intuitive eating counseling to folks looking to repair their relationship with food. Sarah received her Masters in Social Work from Boston University, a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, and her Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from University of Massachusetts - Amherst.
Prior to working in private practice, Sarah worked with undergraduate and graduate students in the Counseling Services of a prestigious university in Boston. Clients there struggled with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, disordered eating, and many other areas of difficulty. For the past 20 years, Sarah has worked in mental health with teens, adults, and their families through inpatient hospital and outpatient programs, in addition to a variety of research settings.
Sarah creates a space where her clients feel safe to open up and explore their struggles and overcome obstacles. Using warmth, humor, and a passion for her work, Sarah helps her clients examine how they interact with the world around them and to find new ways to find the strength, hope, and resiliency they might have overlooked in themselves. Seeing her clients find courage they didn’t know they had is incredibly rewarding.
Sarah grew up outside of Boston and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys baking, singing, and trivia, as well as any opportunity to travel and explore other cultures and cuisine.
