Stephanie Kemmer is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board Certified Registered Art Therapist located in Staten Island, NY. Stephanie is passionate about providing teenagers and young people with creative outlets through which they can express their emotions. Her goal is to help her clients feel more confident in themselves. Many of Stephanie’s clients have anxiety, which may come from difficult experiences such as adoption or the foster care system or from past trauma. They seek a deeper sense of connection to a purpose, and want to discover their true selves.
Stephanie engages clients in artwork across a wide range of mediums. Her approach opens the conversation to talk about emotions and feelings, and allows her to support her clients in ways that traditional talk therapy might not. Stephanie also encourages clients to strengthen their mind-body connection, offering Somatic Experiencing therapy and tapping. For those whose trauma holds them back from feeling balanced, she practices Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. This type of therapy can ground an individual in the present, helping them overcome a sense of danger.
Stephanie earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Art Therapy from Long Island University. She has over 10 years of experience in the field of mental health, and has helped a countless number of clients to find a sense of calm in their lives.
