Summer Hecht (she/her) is a clinical social worker providing teletherapy in the state of Maryland to individuals, couples+, and families who are invested in creating change. Many of her clients came to Summer with the hope of improving overall life satisfaction and for support with improving their relationships and exploring their identities. Summer is especially passionate about working with two groups of people: parents and young adults. Summer supports parents who are struggling to balance the multitude of identities that come with parenthood, and loves to work with mothers who are feeling burnt out and are trying to find the meaning and peace in motherhood they thought would be immediately apparent but, perhaps, was not. Summer also works with transition-age young adults who need a safe space to explore what movement to the next stage of life will look like for them. Supporting young people with relationships and finding themselves and their paths are particular specialities of Summer's.
Summer's practice is rooted in authenticity. She believes that when a therapeutic relationship is built between two real people (or amongst a group of real people), a unique space is created that allows real progress to be made. That authentic space holds vulnerability and trust, and it is this that allows therapy to heal.
Summer's training has included CBT, DBT, the Gottman Method, and trauma processing therapy. Summer has worked with clients of all ages with a variety of mood disorders, phase-of-life concerns, and relationship struggles. Summer is body-positive, sex/kink-positive, and LGBTQIA-aligned.
