Professional statement

Hi there! My name is Timothy Kelly (but please call me Tim). I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who also happens to have ADHD/is neurodivergent located in Aurora, CO. I love helping my neurodivergent and ADHD adults unmask and live confidently in a neurotypical world. My clients often arrive at therapy wanting to make major changes to their routines, but aren’t sure what to do or where to start. They often find themselves with anxiety, depression, overwhelming stress, or burnout. Some of them feel like they’re imposters, with low self-worth that leaves them unable to accept that good thing can happen to them. Other clients replay painful memories over and over in their heads, which leaves them emotionally exhausted.

My approach to therapy begins with my down-to-earth style. Tim often uses humor in his sessions to build strong therapeutic relationships with his clients – he may even reference a TikTok or meme during his sessions. From this rapport, I help my clients learn more about their emotional states, feelings, thoughts, and goals. I incorporate= the outside world into therapy through nature therapy, including forest therapy. I teache clients how to do away with those silly cognitive distortions and replace those thought patterns with healthier, more compassionate ones. I practice in a trauma-informed way so that all clients feel safe during their sessions.

I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. I continue to expand my skill set through additional training, certifications, and informal learning. I'm an avid writer and enjoy bringing writing and poetry into his work with clients to help them express what’s difficult to talk about directly. My goal is to help clients make effective changes that leave them feeling engaged, energized, and content with their lives.

Message to clients

Most people want Christmas to come early, but you are just masking your office Grinch. You wear a mask of smiles at the office holiday party. Moonlighting as an extrovert at work is exhausting, and you carry the weight of work everywhere so why be around them? Jeff's continual comments on "attitude" in the workplace and comments regarding gender-affirming care are enough to bring him coal yourself this year. You'd fight him, but you don't even feel like you belong in this office, this line of work, even the life you have.

You spend all of that time outside, and yet you still don't feel relaxed. Being atop Copper Mountain is gorgeous and you are just terrified of what's waiting once you leave. Stupid walks for your stupid mental health in nature don't help either. You can only hide in new hobbies and hyperfixations for so long, so you just watch intrusive re-runs of Rumination: Reliving Past Embarrassments, waiting for the day you feel "normal" again. Why do you keep masking what's underneath?

You've been masking for way too long, and it's about time someone helped you find that sense of courage and excitement again. My name is Tim, I’m a therapist, rooted-dreamer, and nature-loving poetic who curses when I get really passionate about a conversation. I believe there is a way out of these dark fucking woods. Let's meet and find a new way forward, Go to my Website and schedule a consultation.
