Professional statement

Tina is a licensed clinical professional therapist who is committed to treating children adolescents, adults, families and couples. She has extensive clinical experience with depression, anxiety, child and adolescent mental health, trauma relationship issues and life transitions.

As a person centered therapist Tina treats her clients as equals taking their concerns into account throughout the entire therapeutic process. She uses a welcoming authentic approach to create a safe and supportive environment that invites clients to build insight and utilize their strengths as they develop a way of living more satisfying and fulfilling. Tina understands that one size does not fit all, as such treatment is tailored to fit each client’s uniqueness. Treatment begins with problems presented by clients and moves to deeper analysis as needed.

Tina received her bachelor's degree in social work from Bowie State University. She earned a master’s degree in Guidance & Counseling from Bowie State University as well. Tina accepted positions in impoverished communities working with children, youth and families because she was raised in similar communities. Her goal then and now is to help clients realize that they are not defined or limited by their struggles and that they can create new narratives that bring about a stronger, more optimistic sense of self.

In her spare time Tina enjoys gatherings with family and friends, long rides that end at the beach and most of all, spending time with her two little grandsons that have a way of making life make sense.

Message to clients

I have found my niche – my ideal client and that is you. You - who have a secret that you dare not reveal to even those closest to you. You - who feel stuck in a career and a life not of your own choosing. You - who, after years of marriage and raising children, find yourself quiet and alone. You - who knows that there is a hell because you attend it every day, but you call it school.

You who are experiencing trauma, conflicts, and difficult life challenges alone and isolated. I am a therapist that has been on the other side of the therapeutic desk which makes me passionately enthusiastic about paying what was provided to me forward. As your therapist I will create an environment established with understanding, support, acceptance, and genuineness that encourages you to explore, discover and develop a way of living more satisfying and fulfilling.

Client testimonials

"I am glad to share my reflection on My meetings with Ms. Tina Hunley. She was patient and flexible in her scheduling. I am a classroom teacher and she was more than accommodating with early morning or directly after school hours calls. She took into account all of my mommy stressors. I was reminded of the old adage " put the breathing mask on YOURSELF first, and then provide air for the children". Yes, I use to work for the airlines but I was gently reminded from Ms. Tina that self care is necessary in order for the whole team to survive."
