Vilna Tejeda is a bilingual Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Providence, RI who specializes in mood and anxiety, disorders, academic challenges, and autism spectrum disorders. She has extensive experience working with teens, college students, women, immigrants, members of the LGBTQIA community, and medically compromised students. Many of the teens she works with are experiencing emotional regulation issues, anxiety, and/or depression. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
Vilna is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychoanalysis, and mindfulness practices. She spends time working with her clients to explore the root of the problem before deciding which treatment modality will be most effective. When working with a client with a history of trauma, Vilna utilizes trauma-focused CBT.
Vilna has expertise in LGBTQIA-related issues, especially around the coming out process. She reminds her clients that they are in charge of their identity and can decide when is the right time to come out. She helps her young clients look towards the future and remember that there is a world outside of school. This includes developing plans and envisioning what they want their life to look like.
