The IPS Center for Psychological Services is a clinic staffed primarily by doctoral externs in Sterling, Virginia. Externs at the IPS Center work with a wide variety of clients, but tend to focus on young adults and professionals. Many of the clients at the IPS Center find themselves amid transitions in education, work, and family life. In those moments, stress, anxiety, depression, and doubt can come to the surface. IPS Center clinicians are passionate about supporting clients as they navigate these transitions and develop a deeper sense of identity in the process.

Externs at the IPS Center are trained in the integration of faith and spirituality with the practice of psychology. This means, at the client’s preference, his or her faith and spirituality can be incorporated into treatment to address both psychological and spiritual needs. Furthermore, externs at the IPS Center are closely supervised by licensed clinical psychologists, ensuring that clients receive the best clinical care possible and make progress towards their life goals.

At the IPS Center, clinicians develop a collaborative relationship with the client to identify strengths, concerns, and goals. At the heart of treatment at the IPS Center is a profound respect for the dignity of each person and a recognition that each person, despite and through their wounds, can make changes that will result in flourishing. IPS Center clinicians are passionate about the therapeutic relationship, which they believe is key to achieving healing and growth.

The IPS Center is happy to offer the flexibility of telehealth services to Virginia residents, as well as in person services at our Sterling, VA location. In addition to clinical externs, the IPS Center also has several licensed staff who provide services that are beyond the scope of externs, including couples therapy and cases with a greater clinical complexity.
