FAQS

What are your practice's specialties?

The Urban Counselor was established to support Chicago metropolitan residents! As one of the faster paced, heavily saturated, and crime infested cities in the country, we recognize the traumas residents face daily. We aim to provide services to minority, marginalized, students, individuals and families impacted by trauma. We support individuals struggling with (but not limited to) maintaining relationships, lack of belonging or connectedness, strained and/or estranged family connections, personality disorders, complex & vicarious trauma (such as DV and or witnessing crime/violence) and more through Relational Therapy approaches. We offer English and Spanish speaking services. The Urban Counselor believes in treating the whole person as oppose to focusing only on the pathology, thus incorporating self-care in every treatment plan as a tool of empowerment & self-awareness for all clients. Somatic services such as reiki and sound healing will be offered in the upcoming future in a live location.

What services does your practice offer?

The Urban Counselor currently provides Individual Therapy, Family Therapy Assessments, Family Therapy, and EMDR Therapy

How does payment work at your practice?

The Urban Counselor accepts most PPO insurance providers in IL. Private pay is also accepted via our patient portal with individual sessions starting at $120 (50 min). Family therapy assessments are treated as Initial Psychiatric evaluations and price varies pending the size of the family (base rate $150).
