Professional statement

Inspired by his own uplifting encounter with therapy at the age of 14, Matt has been driven to carve out a path in the counseling realm. He firmly believes that the transformative journey within therapy can bestow invaluable enrichment upon an individual's life—ushering in positive shifts, fostering personal evolution, and fostering a profound self-awareness.

Matt's therapeutic methodology is deeply rooted in a person-centric approach, placing paramount importance on delving into a client's unique sense of self. His ultimate aspiration is to guide clients toward self-actualization and a comprehensive self-awareness. During sessions, he adeptly tailors his approach to harmonize with your current state, seamlessly integrating techniques such as CBT or other therapeutic tools that resonate.

Matt has a BS in Psychology and a concentration in Chemistry and Biology from Stony Brook University. Matt completed his internship at Kip Therapy while pursuing his Masters in Mental Health Counseling at Hunter College. He currently is resident fellow in training at Kip Therapy.

Message to clients

Do you want to find a compassionate, nonjudgmental space to explore new aspects of yourself? I am a gay, cisgender white man living in Astoria, Queens. I love the diversity of NYC—being able to meet people of all different backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. (The variety of delicious food is a great perk, too!). I aim to bring the curiosity that NYC inspires in me to our sessions. If being a gay man living in New York has taught me anything (as well as my own experiences in therapy!), it's that when our uniqueness and vitality are shared, witnessed, and nurtured, we are able to embrace our full, inherited potential--a potential that too often gets dimmed by the expectations, norms, and burdens that the dominant culture imposes upon us. I'm here to listen to you and celebrate your unique and authentic self.
