Psychiatrist, MDDr. Barbara Burton is a Harvard-trained, board-certified psychiatrist with a practice based in Brookline, MA. She holds physician licensure in Massachusetts and New York, and offers psychiatric diagnostic evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy services to adults throughout both states.
Her practice is designed to support rapid evaluation of new patients and flexible scheduling with established patients, including the ability to accommodate urgent appointments when needed. She works with patients in person at her office in Brookline, MA and also remotely via telehealth.
Dr. Burton's treatment philosophy incorporates each patient's own unique values and goals, using an open, warm, and practical approach. She believes that treatment should be individualized and collaborative, and that patients and psychiatrists should work together as a team to guide treatment. In addition to adult psychiatry, she has subspecialized training in forensic psychiatry, which prepared her to adeptly manage complex and elusive psychiatric symptoms.
Dr. Burton treats a wide variety of conditions, with an emphasis on depression and anxiety disorders. She also has a special clinical interest in issues unique to individuals with high-stress professions (i.e. business leaders, attorneys, physicians), including burnout, sleep and concentration disruption, relationships, and identity.
