Professional statement

I received my Bachelor of Arts in English, minoring in chemistry and behavioral neuroscience, from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. I then attended medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing my psychiatry residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Knowing I wanted to work in the healthcare field, I explored a variety of specialties. While I was in medical school, I particularly enjoyed my rotations in psychiatry, both in the hospital and outpatient. In this specialty, I can combine my interest in the humanities and literature with my interest in medicine. I have always been passionate about mental health due to the impact it has had on my friends and family members. Eventually, I decided to focus on outpatient psychiatry. I gravitated towards outpatient work due to the ability to form ongoing treatment relationships with patients. I find this very rewarding. I particularly enjoy working with undergrad and graduate students.

I am experienced in treating a variety of psychiatric disorders in adults of all ages, as well as young adults, having spent time treating students in the SUNY college system. In addition to medication management, I am trained in Psychodynamic and Supportive Psychotherapy. I have treated adults with a variety of diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), personality disorders, and bipolar disorder.

Message to clients

My approach to treatment is an attempt to be flexible while also following the standard of care. I am adept at working with patients in person and through a telepsychiatry platform. I believe in a holistic care approach, with an emphasis placed on maintaining good mental health and physical health. Treatment begins with a psychiatric evaluation to clarify your diagnosis. From there, I will discuss various treatment options with you, including psychotherapy or beginning medication. I like getting to know my patients and ensuring they have some say in their treatment plan and goals. I value building a strong doctor/patient relationship and work to be an added support and resource in your life.
