Professional statement

Adrienne Figueiredo, LCAT, has extensive experience working with people with different life challenges, diagnoses, and cultures in both inpatient settings and private practice. She especially enjoys helping those that are in their 20's - 30's and navigating their professional lives, particularly in creative fields; she also has specific experience and expertise working with people who experience anxiety, difficulty adjusting to parenthood, relationship issues, and/or are part of the LGBTQ community.

Adrienne's approach is specifically non-pathologizing, as she actively seeks to discern sociocultural structures that may have contributed to the client's struggles. Furthermore, she finds that diagnoses can be a beneficial lens through which to examine troubling symptoms, but utilizes other measures as well. Adrienne pulls from various modalities in her approach to therapy as well, including art therapy, DBT, CBT, and mindfulness interventions. In addition to her 12 years as a therapist, her first career was as an artist, and that helped her immensely in developing an empathic and thoughtful perspective in her clinical work, whether art making is utilized by the client during sessions or not.

If you'd like to work with Adrienne, please feel free to contact her & ask any questions you may have! She has availability for both telehealth and in person sessions, which typically last 45 minutes.

Message to clients

In the first session, we’ll establish clear goals for what you’d like to focus on and begin creating the road map for doing so. The trajectory of the deeper work reflects the needs of each individual; I feel that my job is to listen to you and provide what you need in the moment, whether it’s a kind ear, more direct guidance, or both. I am always looking to stay current on contemporary perspectives and approaches in clinical practice, particularly in regard to changing views on trauma, women’s experiences, and the mental health of marginalized communities. My hope and sincere belief is that psychotherapy has turned over a new, more helpful leaf by approaching mental health differently, and I'm excited to apply these ideas to your life!
