Professional statement

Alexia specializes in working with parents during their journey of conception, birth and parenthood. Her training in somatic based psychotherapy as well as her experience working with perinatal mental health, early childhood development and infant psychology allows her to offer a broad range of skills to her clients. Alexia believes that parenthood offers a perfect opportunity to re-pattern old traumas, triggers and response patterns so that one can be more connected, attuned and loving with their children and themselves. Her practice is rooted in body awareness and mindfulness while also drawing on an eclectic mix of psychotherapy philosophies. She works with women and couples who struggle with feeling overwhelmed in their role as parents and feel like they have lost a sense of who they are and what they want. Sometimes this looks like guilt, anxiety, stress and depression. She believes it is possible to feel empowered, embodied and connected to your inner source of wisdom and aliveness, reconnected to your passions and joy, finding a deeper sense of connection and love for your life and children.

Alexia has extensive experience treating and supporting perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, pregnancy loss and fertility challenges, traumatic birth and NICU experiences. Her training includes early childhood development and assessment of the attachment and interaction between child and parent. She provides individual, couples and family psychotherapy sessions

Message to clients

It’s not easy to step into a room (or zoom!) as a client. It takes courage and vulnerability. Trust me. I know. As a parent myself I know what it’s like to raise young children. It is the most rewarding, heart-opening job you’ll ever have but it can also be exhausting, heartbreaking and overwhelming. I am straight forward but kind, empathetic and compassionate but also not afraid to point out where you might need some reframing or new patterns all together. I have a sense of humor and bring myself to each of my sessions. If you are looking for a typical therapist who tells you what you want to hear and is very clinical and rigid, I’m not the therapist for you! But if you are looking for someone who help guide you to a more integrated and aligned version of yourself while having a sense of humor along the way, you’ve come to the right place.

I help parents create more space to do the things they love and lose the “parent-guilt.” I work with women and couples who struggle with feeling overwhelmed in their role as parents and feel like they have lost a sense of who they are and what they want. My specialty is helping women connect to their inner passion and wisdom again and helping couples reconnect to each other after the distance that often comes after having young children.
