Professional statement

Alison Aliazzo is a Psychotherapist working with individuals and couples in New York City. She has a thriving practice consisting of clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, emotional regulation, co-dependency, imposter syndrome and other issues that hinder their ability to function at their optimum level.

Alison uses traditional therapeutic methods such as psychoanalytic therapy, as well as more modern modalities such as CBT, EFT and more, to create an individualized plan that is tailored to meet her clients' needs. She believes that there is no 'one size fits all' method and views therapy as a partnership, wherein the client brings the information and she brings objective but invested feedback. In the process, clients gain an increased awareness and understanding of themselves, which undoubtedly improves their experience of life.

Alison offers a safe space for clients to express themselves truthfully, without judgment, while empowering them with their own strengths, skills and some strategies to help them overcome challenges. With an emphasis on self-acceptance, her goal for her clients is that they leave therapy feeling more empowered and in control of their emotions, relationships and lives.

Alison received her LMSW from Adelphi University in 2006. She earned her LCSW in 2023 and started her own practice; Gentle Health Psychotherapy. She has spent the last 17 years working with teenagers, adults and couples, helping them to become the very best version of themselves. She offers virtual and in-person sessions. Her hours of operation are Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm.

Message to clients

Hello and welcome! We all know that finding a therapist can be an ordeal. In this time of instant access, you can research yourself into a frenzy and still not be sure that you've found 'the one'. In fact, I would liken it to dating! You do your best to screen potential candidates, only to have it all come down to one thing: chemistry. It's hard to determine chemistry over an app! That's why it's best to have a phone call to gage the therapeutic fit. Once we determine that we are indeed a good fit, the rest unfolds quite easily and naturally.

Our minds are the lens through which we view and engage with the world. Just as we aim to care for our physical bodies, our mental health also deserves time and attention! Together, we will find what's not working for you and create positive change. This is true of individuals and couples; I offer objective insight and feedback to guide you through any impasses that come up and seem unmanageable. You cannot change what you don't acknowledge. Once these issues come to light, anything is possible.

I look forward to connecting with you and to taking on your challenges, together. Until then, be well and know that you already have the power to be whomever you envision yourself to be!
