Professional statement

Amy Borak is a LICSW with an office at Metaspace Studios in East Providence. Amy's clients reach out because they want to go beneath and beyond the intellect, psychology, and mind, to experience an embodied experience of transformation. Amy’s clients show up with anxiety, life transition questions, parenting/co-parenting struggles, and relationship challenges that are getting in the way of living a vibrant and empowered life. Amy’s clients are creatives, leaders, dreamers, parents, highly sensitive people and people who seek sustained and holistic healing.

Amy is an intentional mother, friend, Montessori educator, visionary, practitioner of yoga and mindfulness, and a highly skilled multi-sensory listener. Amy draws on Montessori principles, Internal Family Systems, Family Constellations, mind/body practices and uses an uplifting and anti-oppressive lens. Amy values an ecological approach to therapy, considering the individual, the familial, and the collective issues that impact all areas of well-being. Come as you are, together we will learn to listen with compassion and curiosity to past and present narratives, sensations in the body, deeply held (thought) patterns and beliefs, and their influence on your life. Amy treats old wounds with kindness, gentle attention, and respect. Amy is spiritually inclined and has a special interest in helping clients trust their inner voice and connect with their highest self.

Amy's style is warm, non-judgmental, and intuitive.

Amy received her MSW from Simmons College and has had experience in a variety of clinical, community and leadership roles. Amy looks forward to meeting in person, but is available for remote sessions as well. Outside of work, she volunteers at her local community centers, practices yoga and meditation, consults with non-profit leaders, journals, and loves to walk in the woods with her dog, friends, and two children.

Message to clients

I started The Listening Room as a space to experience the powerful shifts that happen when you listen inward with curiosity, compassion and gentle attention. Deciding to invest in your own healing is the most important gift to yourself and the world. I use a multi-sensory listening approach, honoring the pain and parts that need attention while trusting that your unique wholeness will be revealed in sessions and in your life. I will challenge you to listen in new ways, feel into your body and bones, and trust that you have the resources to create new possibilities and new narratives to author and lead your life in a creative way. I welcome you with whatever arises. Your feelings have important information and wisdom which has been born from your unique individual, family and collective experience in the world. We go at your pace, respecting all the parts that need time and attention. I see you. I hear you. I respect you. I believe in you.

Leadership and parenting sessions- I offer leadership and parenting coaching, consultation and support for new creative leaders, parents, and new executive directors of small non-profits. I use a mind/body centered approach to change, a family constellations approach to unblocking stuck areas in leadership, combined with an asset based approach to address specific goals one step at a time. You lead the course of the work. I help you to reveal new opportunities.

I look forward to being alongside you on your healing journey.
