Professional statement

Brona is a bilingual, biracial, psychotherapist (LMSW) in New York. She works with individuals, couples, adolescents, and children over seven years old.

Brona is passionate about working with people struggling with trauma and is trained in EMDR, one of the most effective treatments for PTSD, trauma, and other adverse experiences. Brona is also greatly interested in exploring the impact of oppression (caste, race, gender, etc ) on the mental health and well-being of all members of society.

Brona views the client/therapist relationship as one based on authentic mutual respect. In sessions she is interactive and energetic, often using humor to communicate ideas. Her approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative. Brona invites clients to speak unashamedly about the "worst parts" of themselves " and to celebrate their best parts, without embarrassment. Brona will help clients illuminate patterns of behaviors and beliefs that impede client's ability to reach their potential. Brona is dedicated to providing a therapeutic relationship that is honest and authentic. Her approach supports the client's ability to achieve or maintain healthy self-esteem.

Brona uses a holistic "toolbox" and draws from neuroscientific, psychological, and somatic modalities. She uses EMDR, Supportive Psychotherapy, Family Systems Therapy, CBT, meditation, mindfulness, and Tapping. She is a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor.

Brona's goal as a psychotherapist is to help her clients live deliberate, self-actualized, and peaceful lives.

Message to clients

If you are reading this it is because you desire change, either in yourself or in others. Maybe talking to friends or family is not giving you the objective perspective that you need, maybe you don't want to burden others, maybe the change you seek to make seems impossible.

There are many reasons people seek therapy, but the common denominator is a desire for change.

Therapy can be transformative and it would be an honor to go on that journey with you. Therapy is teamwork that requires effort and energy. I am up for it and if you feel you're ready to take that step, please contact me for a 15-minute consultation (at no cost ) to see if we are a good fit.

Wishing you all the best!
