Professional statement

Celesta Palmer is a mental health counselor in Chattanooga, TN. She works with individuals ages 16+ and couples. Many of Celesta’s clients enter therapy to address complex trauma, relationship conflict, emotional/mood instability, adversity related to racial, cultural, gender, or sexual identity, and family of origin struggles. Celesta is particularly passionate about serving members of minority communities, young adults, and couples. She also has advanced training in treating post traumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, bipolar and related disorders, addiction, and personality disorders.

Celesta is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, somatic and attachment focused eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and solution-focused therapy. Her eclectic use of treatment modalities encourages the client to build awareness about how past events and relationships affect their current beliefs and behaviors.

In session, Celesta focuses on exploring core beliefs and how they developed; identifying healthy and unhealthy patterns of behavior and thinking; and teaching effective cognitive and behavioral skills for navigating stressful situations that trigger emotional dysregulation. This approach supports clients to experience significant "aha" moments that often lead to healthy changes in thinking and acting. Celesta's therapeutic style is creative, active, and encouraging. When clients first start therapy, Celesta works to establish a safe and comfortable therapeutic space where clients can discuss insights and information about their past and present life.

Celesta received her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, TN.

Outside of private practice, Celesta enjoys adventuring in nature and spending quality time with friends and family. Celesta offers both in-person and remote therapy sessions for residents of Tennessee.
