Dr. Christiana Ibilola Awosan is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Midtown West, Manhattan specializing in trauma, relationships, premarital counseling, and race and cultural identity. The focus of her practice is in supporting people of color and individuals with marginalized identities as they navigate the impacts of social and environmental traumas, with an emphasis on cultural, gender, and sexual identity. Additionally, she has expertise in couples counseling to help couples break free from toxic patterns and find renewed fulfillment.

Dr. Awosan takes special care in providing care that is culturally sensitive, validating, and change-oriented. She uses evidence-based techniques in her practice, tailoring her approach to each client's concerns. Working from a Multicultural Relational Perspective, she draws on Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman’s couple treatment methods, Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Depression - Providing support and promoting healing through hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life

Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse

Relationships - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating

Premarital counseling - Providing a safe and neutral environment for couples to explore expectations and prepare for the rewards and challenges of marriage
