Dr. Ciara Murray-Young is a Licensed Psychologist located in Santa Barbara, CA. Dr. Ciara has over 20 years of experience supporting clients across a wide range of mental health needs. Many of her clients seek therapy as a way of working their way through a conflict, whether that’s at work, in a relationship, or within themselves. Other clients want to escape the negative impacts of their mental health symptoms, including depression, anxiety, and more. Dr. Ciara supports clients of all ages to improve their mental health so they can better navigate moments of distress.
Dr. Ciara's approach to therapy begins with building strong rapport with each client. During the first several sessions, clients share their stories with Dr. Ciara, who offers a perspective with them that they might not have heard before. She generally works from a psychodynamic perspective and uses the strong therapeutic alliance that she builds with the client to shed light on the other relationships in the clients’ lives. She is passionate about providing trauma-informed therapy services, creating a calm, secure atmosphere for all clients as they talk about painful memories, abusive relationships, or deep fears.
Dr. Ciara previously practiced in many community mental health settings, including many years practicing as a psychologist in Ireland. She empowers clients to learn more about themselves and to explore parts of themselves that they haven’t previously accessed, all in a warm, collaborative therapeutic space.
