Professional statement

Claudia Mattox is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas within the greater Houston area, specifically located in Magnolia. Many of Claudia’s clients come in when life begins to feel too heavy, they feel stuck, they struggle with personal relationships, or are having difficulty getting through past experiences. Claudia is especially passionate about serving kids, teens and adults who have had their lives impacted from traumatic experiences. She has extensive training in play therapy, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for helping clients heal from emotional distress and symptoms that occur from disturbing life experiences.

Claudia is a trauma therapist trained in attachment-focused and person-centered therapy while utilizing interventions and strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trust-based relational interventions. This means that in session, Claudia focuses on identifying and understanding your personal struggles, how they link to your previous experiences, increase understanding to your own emotions, and identifying past and present triggers that are contributing to distress. This approach allows clients to feel an increase of safety and connection to themselves, others, and decrease the intensity of distress they may feel from past traumatic experiences.

Claudia focuses on creating a space for her clients to be fully themselves and believes that authenticity and connection are the foundation for creating a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Claudia attended University of Houston and received her Bacherlor of Arts in Psychology in 2017, and went on to graduate with her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University in 2020. Claudia gained experience in trauma work, play therapy, and EMDR which allows her to specifically walk with clients of all ages in trauma processing.

Outside of private practice, Claudia loves to hike, kayak, and get lost in books and music.
