Dr. David Burkholder is a licensed professional counselor in both New Jersey and Virginia. He specializes in couples counseling, career counseling, and distress related to life transition difficulties, including anxiety and depression.
When working with couples, Dr. Burkholder utilizes the Gottman Method, an approach based on four decades of breakthrough research with over 3000 couples. When working with individuals, Dr. Burkholder provides depth-oriented and client-centered supportive counseling in order to successfully assist clients as they navigate through whatever challenge(s) they are facing.
In addition to being a licensed professional counselor with almost 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Burkholder has also been a professor in a clinical mental health counseling master's program for over 10 years and has received extensive post-doctoral training in couples counseling.

Life transitions - Coping with difficult or impactful life changes, such as moving to a new area, relationship transitions, child rearing, or career changes; learning self-care to better manage resulting stress
