Professional statement

Dr. David Tzall, a licensed psychologist, specializes in helping individuals, couples, and families navigate their lives and heal their relationships with themselves and others. He works with clients seeking deeper connections with partners, children, parents, friends, and themselves. Many face challenges such as past traumas, depression, anxiety, or substance use that hinder authentic, fulfilling relationships. Dr. Tzall supports clients in overcoming these obstacles, empowering them to achieve their mental health goals by making intentional, values-driven decisions instead of reactive, impulsive ones.

Dr. Tzall's therapeutic approach highlights the significance of the therapist-client relationship as a catalyst for change. Grounded in an attachment-informed, interpersonal perspective, he addresses rigid and maladaptive patterns that limit growth. He provides a compassionate, secure environment where clients feel safe to express their feelings, aspirations, and ideas. Integrating elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), he helps clients adopt mindfulness-based strategies, develop effective coping skills, and practice meaningful self-care during moments of distress.

Based in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Tzall offers both in-person and virtual sessions. He earned his Psy.D. from Nova Southeastern University and is dedicated to empowering clients to discover their true selves and achieve a greater sense of fulfillment in everyday life.

Message to clients

Therapy is a laboratory to experiment with new feelings, thoughts, and decisions. The goal becomes to turn what we work on in the room into change on the outside by generalizing it into new adaptive, flexible, and responsive actions. No longer do we need to stay beholden to past traumas and instead can move beyond feeling stuck in life. I believe in being transparent throughout the change process so we construct an authentic and coherent narrative of self. We look to build deep, meaningful connections so we learn to relate to one another more adaptively. Through this, we learn to care for ourselves and discover our genuine needs outside of others' influence. Therapy is a place where you learn that what matters to you matters and what is important to you is important simply because you deserve to feel that way. We will work collaboratively to ensure that empathy, validation, and the provision of a safe environment are essential aspects to the positive healing alliance.
