Dixie Appel Soghoian (she/her) is a Mental Health Counselor working in Brooklyn Heights. She provides trauma-informed, evidence-based and multicultural counseling to individuals across the lifespan. Dixie believes deeply in the transformative potential of psychotherapy, and seeks to provide non-stigmatizing, integrative and adaptive approaches to the therapeutic encounter. With enthusiasm and care, she creates safe emotional spaces of exploration, understanding, attunement and healing.
Dixie worked as a psychiatric intern at the adult inpatient unit of Lenox Hill Hospital, and later as a clinical intern with a practice called Dwellness, where she is now a staff clinician. At Dwellness, she works in-home with children, adolescents, couples and families with a wide range of psychological profiles and therapeutic needs.
Dixie works in private practice under the supervision of Joanna Wiederhorn, LCSW. Her office is in Brooklyn Heights, and she is also available for working remotely. She continues her post graduate training in relational psychotherapy at the Stephen Mitchell Relational Study Center. She is a native New Yorker. In her spare time, and in her spare time, enjoys embroidery and dancing.
