Professional statement

Dwight Bejec M.S., LCPC, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. He is Filipino American. He grew up in the Western Suburbs of Illinois. He initially started his career working with groups, and individuals at a local non-profit mental substance use disorder agency. When he started to work in a private practices setting, he realized that he loved working with relationships of all types! As he started to uncover the connections between adult relationship patterns with childhood attachment trauma, he became inspired to support clients process their past experiences that are preventing them from building relationships in preferred, mindful ways.

Being a son of immigrants and growing up in spaces that he felt he never really fit in, during his childhood, has inspired Dwight to provide a safe place for individuals and couples belonging to a minority groups in America. He specializes in helping clients to work through childhood trauma, and improve current relationships with themselves and/or partners. He is a WPATH Member and is available for writing letters of support for those in the LGBTQ+ community seeking to start hormone replacement therapy and gender reassignment surgeries.

With clients who have experienced trauma, Dwight utilizes mindfulness, trauma-informed approaches, and interventions to support and help the body get "unstuck" from the negative, unhelpful patterns. He often utilizes mindfulness in every session to stay curious to the experience of the present moment with clients. The mindfulness based modalities of therapy have allowed clients to pause and have deeper understanding and compassion for themselves and others.

Dwight also offers the flexibility of remote therapy sessions to clients in Illinois.

Message to clients

It is my genuine hope to provide a safe space for you to notice your feelings, thoughts, emotions and sensations in our sessions together with love and curiosity. I sincerely believe that there are reasons behind your presenting problems. Sometimes, we can get stuck in patterns of behavior that might have been helpful for us at some point in our lives, but are not so helpful for us now. These patterns sometimes keep us stuck and prevent us from relating to ourselves and others in helpful ways. Through using mindfulness and staying curious with yourself, I genuinely believe that you will have greater compassion for yourself and others. I look forward to accompany you on a journey towards learning more about yourself!
