Professional statement

Elana Morgulis is a psychotherapist based in Northern California who works with individuals and couples. Many of her clients come to address anxiety, life transitions, trauma, relationship issues, and work stress. Elana is particularly passionate about helping people struggling with codependency and self-criticism. She also has advanced training in fertility and perinatal issues.

Elana is trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Psychotherapy, and holistic practices such as meditation and yoga. Her integrative approach allows you to explore thoughts, beliefs, and patterns of behavior as well as dynamics in relationships with openness and non-judgment. Her depth helps to identify the root cause of challenges and liberate stuck parts that are holding you back. Her style is holistic as she pays attention to the mind, body, and spirit.

In session, Elana may offer mindfulness tools that can be used in stressful situations, but only if you're open to them. She’s skilled in helping you identify your mental, emotional, and relational needs, so you can communicate more effectively, set healthy boundaries, and improve relationships, whether personal or professional.

Her clients most often report feeling more confident and connected to themselves. They make decisions with clarity and alignment with their values. They report having more tools to navigate life and relationships. Overall, her approach allows clients to take better care of themselves, to develop self-awareness, and feel more empowered in their lives.

Elana's style is compassionate, intuitive, and practical. When you first start therapy, she'll focus on creating a safe relationship, understanding what’s going on, and setting goals and intentions together. Elana received her M.A. from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. She has over 11 years of experience. Outside of private practice, she loves hiking, travel, espresso, and recording guided meditations.

Message to clients

Life and relationships are hard. There doesn’t have to be something “seriously wrong” in order to seek support. You may notice something feels off, you feel stuck, anxious, or you just don’t feel like yourself. With the fast pace of modern life it can feel hard and counter-intuitive to consider slowing down and tending to yourself.

Therapy is a safe space for you to explore what’s going on, and to express yourself without fear of judgment, retaliation, criticism, or rejection. It’s been my personal and professional experience that therapy can not only be cathartic and help us know and understand ourselves better, but it can also be deeply transformative.

The goal of therapy as I see it, is to find confidence in being your authentic self, and to feel comfortable in your own skin while gaining personal insight and learning tools to cope with and regulate through difficult emotions. I listen and encourage your self-expression as we process life together. I believe awareness is the key to creating change, and compassion is the key to healing our emotional and spiritual wounds.

I often imagine myself sitting beside you rather than across from you because I walk this path with you offering unconditional care, tools, and wisdom.
