Professional statement

Liz works with adults navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief and loss, chronic illness, stress, and self-esteem concerns. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals coping with the emotional impact of serious or chronic medical conditions, caregiving responsibilities, and periods of uncertainty. Liz believes therapy offers a unique opportunity to feel truly seen, heard, and understood, and she strives to create a calm, supportive, and emotionally safe space where clients can explore their experiences openly and without judgment.

Liz’s approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. She views therapy as a partnership and works alongside clients to deepen self-understanding, strengthen coping skills, and build confidence in expressing their needs, goals, boundaries, and values. Grounded in a strengths-based, person-centered framework, her work focuses on helping clients navigate challenges, foster resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Prior to joining SelfWorks, Liz worked as a medical social worker at a Manhattan hospital specializing in hematology-oncology, where she supported individuals and families facing complex medical diagnoses. She earned her Master of Social Work from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, with clinical training focused on adults experiencing life-threatening and chronic illnesses. Earlier in her career, she worked for a nonprofit organization in Washington, DC that provided counseling services, healthcare access, educational programming, and workforce development resources, further deepening her commitment to compassionate, client-centered care.

Liz offers virtual therapy sessions through SelfWorks, providing flexible and accessible support to meet clients where they are.

Message to clients

I believe therapy offers a unique opportunity to feel truly seen, heard, and understood. My hope is to create a space that feels calm, supportive, and emotionally safe—a place where you can speak openly, explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment, and work through whatever challenges may be bringing you to therapy. Whether you are navigating anxiety, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief and loss, chronic illness, stress, or self-esteem concerns, I strive to meet you with compassion, curiosity, and respect for your unique experiences.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. I view therapy as a partnership, and together we can work toward developing a deeper understanding of your inner world while building confidence in expressing your needs, goals, boundaries, and values. I recognize that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and I value the trust that develops within the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to help you feel supported as you navigate challenges, draw upon your strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My experience working with individuals and families facing serious and chronic medical conditions has shaped my understanding of the ways illness, uncertainty, caregiving, and loss can impact emotional well-being and relationships. Whatever your story may be, I hope our work together helps you feel more connected to yourself, more equipped to navigate life's challenges, and more confident in moving toward the life you want to build.
