Professional statement

Ellie Feldmann, LCPC provides online therapy to women based in Chicago, serving all of Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan. I work with women struggling with relationships, anger management or past traumas that are resurfacing. I take a personalized, trauma-informed approach to explore the root of your issues to be able to find REAL solutions that work for you. We will work on unraveling the "why" behind your choices and behaviors and learn how to choose differently so you can stop feeling stuck.

I take a no-nonsense approach to therapy where you will be "called out on your stuff" in a gentle and supportive manner so you don't keep avoiding the painful parts of you. We will teach you how to unpack your issues so they don't continue to control you. I work with women whose first line of protection is anger. Anger is a coverup feeling so we will explore what is beneath that anger to help you heal from it.

I also specialize in the animal-human bond. I work with pet parents and animal professional to help manage the stress, anxiety and grief that come from the animal/human relationship. I work with parents of challenging parents, parents who have lost a pet and animal professionals who are burnt out and overwhelmed. I have a certification as a pet grief counselor.

All sessions are held virtually in the comfort of your own space. I have both late evenings (up until 11 pm some nights) and weekend availability. I also tend to have a flexible schedule and can often accommodate your changing needs.

Message to clients

You’ve been described as independent, strong, a go-getter—but underneath this façade you’ve carefully built, there’s more going on than you know how to face alone. It shows up in every part of your life—at work, in your relationships, in the way you speak to yourself—but the issues you’re dealing with seem like such a tangled mess that you’re not sure where start. You’ve likely tried therapy before and have been putting off trying again because the idea of being told to “just breathe and count to 10” has the opposite of a calming effect.

Here, you won’t get cookie-cutter quick-fixes. Instead, you’ll actually be heard and get direct, actionable, long-term solutions to help you step confidently into the future. I am not the type of therapist who is going to nod and smile. I am not going to sugarcoat things or redirect them back to you. I am going to challenge you, call you out on things to ensure you don't keep hiding from those things that you have been avoiding most of your life.

The past often haunts us. Whether it shows up in your current relationships, overwhelming you, or is just that nagging voice in the back of your head, we will deal with it so that you can leave the past in the past. You don't have to replay every painful memory or dive into your trauma to overcome it. Together, we will figure it out.
